Charles (Chuck) Berger, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman
Charles (Chuck) Berger is the chairman and CEO of ParAccel. Chuck is an established Chief executive and director with 30 years experience in technology including extensive P&L, general management, marketing and financing experience in high growth, large and mid-sized companies. Prior to ParAccel, Chuck served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of DVDPlay Inc. Before that Chuck was CEO of Nuance Communications and has also served as CEO of Vicinity Corporation, AdForce, Inc. and Radius Inc. He has also held executive positions in finance, marketing and sales at Apple Computer and Sun
Chuck currently serves on the boards of Tier Technology (NASDAQ: TIER), Bucknell University: Trustee, and the United States Naval Memorial. Chuck received his BS in Business Administration from Bucknell University and his MBA, Cum Laude from the University of Santa Clara.
Barry Zane, Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Zane has 32 years of product development experience, principally focused on large distributed and parallel software and hardware systems. He has led the development teams for several products from inception to successful customer and market segment acceptance.
Prior to joining the ParAccel project, Barry served, since its inception in 2000, as Vice President of Architecture for tera-scale database appliance vendor Netezza Corp. He was responsible for guiding all aspects of software architecture and implementation, from initial prototypes through volume shipments to leading Telecommunications, Retail and Internet customers.
Prior to Netezza, Barry was CTO at Applix Inc., which he joined shortly after it was founded in 1983. He held several key development positions there before being named CTO in 1991. Barry was responsible for the development of Applixware, he participated in the acquisition of two companies and was part of the senior management team that led Applix to a successful initial public offering (IPO) in 1994. Previously, Barry held development and management positions at Prime Computer since 1978. Barry received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University.
Tarun Loomba, Chief Marketing Officer
As ParAccel’s Chief Marketing Officer, Mr. Loomba is responsible for Product Management, Marketing and Business Development. Mr. Loomba is a technology industry executive with over 17 years of experience across Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, and Business Development with technical and industry expertise in consumer electronics, broadband, internet and data center infrastructure. Prior to ParAccel, Tarun was VP, Marketing and Business Development for storage solutions at Seagate Technology where he was responsible for the global product management, marketing and business development teams managing Seagate’s $1B consumer and small-medium enterprise storage solutions business. There he re-launched the full product line within his initial year which resulted in the quintupling of Seagate market share for it’s flagship product.
Before Seagate, Tarun worked at Cisco Systems for a decade starting in Internet technologies, moving to cable, and data center networking before finishing as the Senior Director, Product Management and Marketing at Linksys – A Division of Cisco Systems, where he led the global product management and marketing team responsible for Linksys’ $1B+ consumer business including the home networking portfolio, voice over IP product line and broadband products.
Prior to Cisco, Tarun worked as a management consultant for Booz •Allen & Hamilton in the areas of communications, media and technology and at Westinghouse Electric in the Electronic Systems Group, Space Division. Tarun has a BSEE from the University of Michigan, College of Engineering and an MBA from the Wharton School of the university of Pennsylvania.
Mike Azevedo VP Sales
Mr. Azevedo has more than 20 years of sales and executive leadership experience in applications, security, storage and retail, focused primarily on strategically growing revenues and the customer base. Prior to joining ParAccel, Mike the Senior Vice President of Sales at PostX, spearheadeding a sales strategy that quickly increased revenue, adding bottom-line value that led to its acquisition by Ironport/Cisco in 2007.
Previously, Mike was Director of Sales at VERITAS Software for the Application Performance Management (APM) group. During his five years at VERITAS, he was a leading contributor of the global sales organization, playing a key role in strategic acquisitions and business process re-engineering. He also led profitable sales teams for F100 customers. Mike has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration/Management from Chico State University, Chico, CA.
Rick Glick, VP Customer and Partner Development
Mr. Glick joined ParAccel as the VP Customer and Partner Development to ensure that ParAccel solutions meet the needs of customers and partners. Mr. Glick brings tremendous industry experience with him to ParAccel. Most recently he served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Teradata’s Database Engineering group, where he was responsible for product direction and vision of the Teradata Database.
In that position, Mr. Glick focused on feature enhancements for data loading, manageability, extensibility and performance initiatives. His Teradata career spans back to 1991 when he was one of their first professional services employees hired to work on high profile retail customers. He also served as a senior consultant in Chicago where he helped major retailers and telecommunications and insurance providers to develop breakthrough data warehouse systems and practices based on highly differentiated analytics. Mr. Glick helped to introduce Teradata technology into new geographic regions including South America and Asia-Pacific. Mr. Glick also served as Director of Teradata’s Active Data Warehouse Center of Expertise and Partner Engineering. Mr. Glick received his BS in Computer Science from Iowa State University.
Tommy Hawkins, VP of Engineering
Tommy is a software executive with a proven background in building and growing software development organizations. He has significant experience in the development of enterprise class, mission-critical Applications and Application Development products used by today’s Fortune 1000 companies. Before joining ParAccel, Tommy has previously served as VP of Engineering at PS’Soft a maker of IT Asset and Service Management Software, VP of Partner Engineering at Above All Software, a web-service tools vendor, VP of Engineering at MarketFirst Software, a maker of Marketing Automation Software and Visigenic Software, a leader in Application Server and ODBC technologies. Prior to that, he served as Executive Director of Informix Software, a leading Database provider.
At various times, he has also served as an Independent Consultant and Advisor to numerous Silicon Valley Technology and Venture Investment firms. Tommy holds a B.S. in Information and Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Medical Information Science from the University of California at San Francisco.
Dean Mayer, Controller
Mr. Mayer has been the Controller for ParAccel since November 2007 and is responsible for the finance, human resources and legal functions. Previously, Mr. Mayer served in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer for PostX Corporation from 2000 through the sale of the company to IronPort Systems and later to Cisco Systems. He also served as Controller for RealChip, Inc., a semiconductor start-up from 1999 to 2000 and as Director, Global Risk Management Solutions at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP from 1996 to 1999.
In addition, Mr. Mayer served in a number of key management positions at Lockheed Martin Corporation from 1980 to 1996, most recently as Regional Internal Audit Manager. Mr. Mayer holds a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University, Northridge and is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Information Systems Auditor.
